Kona's racing heritage runs deep. Our first bike was designed by Joe Murray in 1988, one of the world's top mountain bike racers at the time. Our commitment to mountain bike racing remains stalwart to this day.
We have National Champions, World Cup winners and two World Champion titles to the Kona name.
To encourage future champions, Kona believes in supporting up-and-coming riders from the grass roots level. The Kona Grassroots program is designed to help future world champions start their racing careers.There are lots of local riders, clubs or small teams that need support. The program offers them that support through your stores, helping us to bring them into the world of mountain bike racing and generating exposure for both your store and the Kona brand.
2008 was a big year for the Kona Grassroots program, with over 200 riders competing at events in 11 different countries.
On the next page you will find all the information you need to help support your local riders, clubs or teams and get them winning on Kona.
We will supply you selected bikes at special prices plus one Kona Grassroots clothing package for free. Additional team clothing can also be purchased at a discount via www.konaeuropeadmin.com, www.konadistribution.com or www.konaworld.com
You will be able put your store's logo and any additional sponsors you my have on the clothing.
We will promote your riders, club or team on our special "Grassroots Area" on www.konaworld.com.
It is a requirement that your riders, club or team send us race reports and photos/videos of their achievements to help promote them, yourselves and Kona.

Conditions of Kona Shop Support:
This offer is only available to authorised 2010 Kona Dealers, the Grassroot rider must purchase a 2010 Kona Bike and the online application form needs to be completed by May 30th 2010.
Rider/Club/Team Conditions:
- No more than 6 riders per Shop/Club/Team
- One Club/Team supported per shop
- Riders must compete in at least 4 events per season and submit race reports with at least one photo or video from each event.
- Club/Team Name must include "Kona" in the title
- When placing orders for extra clothing this must be done online through www.konaeuropeadmin.com or www.konadistribution.com on the shop account or purchased directly from the Kona Web Store. Then the riders name + Club/Shop Name must be included in the comment box on each order so we can arrange the extra Grassroots discount.
- Bikes and Clothing will not be shipped until a completed team form and questionnaire has been completed online.
- The Riders/Club/Team must send photos of members in team clothing with bikes within one month of receiving the bikes and clothing.
- Riders/Team/Club must send profiles for the web by June 30th.
- Riders must send in race reports or updates with copyright free pictures for use on our web sites.
- Remember to place bike orders ASAP as we cannot guarantee that there will be stock available if bikes are ordered late in the season.
- Remember to send your store logo which will be placed on your riders profile with a link to your store web site.
